Myoko’s Famous Powder Playground at Your Doorstep
Myoko’s Famous Powder Playground at Your Doorstep
Drifter Myoko Powder Stays are ideally located near the base of Myoko Suginohara, one of the five resorts that make up the legendary Myoko Kogen powder playground. The mountain boasts an impressive 1,124m vertical drop and receives over 13 meters of snow each year!
With a variety of trails and incredible terrain parks suitable for all skill levels, there’s something for everyone. From the summit, you’ll be treated to stunning panoramic views of Lake Nojiri, the surrounding mountain range, and even the majestic Mt. Fuji in the distance!

Great location and accommodation, ski right up to your door. Snow was incredible, slopes are amazing, there is a 8.5km run that ends at Drifters back door! The hosts, Chris and Amy were extremely accommodating, helping us with everything, driving us to the supermarket and ski rental shops, giving us advice, just really friendly, good people. Our lodge was immaculately cleaned daily, all the snow in the pathways got cleared daily. We were a group of 12 and everyone absolutely loved it, cannot recommend it highly enough. Great for families with children or a big bunch of mates, Chris even kept the beer kegs stocked up for us. Thanks Chris, Amy and team👌😊 John2025-01-07 The Drifter Myoko was an amazing place for our group to hang out for a few days! We were two families traveling together with 11 people total and there was a ton of space. The lodge is even nicer than described and better than the photos! It’s spacious, warm and cozy, so welcoming, the hosts (Chris and Amy) are terrific, the home is super well-appointed. And the location is spectacular, it’s at the end of the road in a beautiful mountain location, close to great skiing!Chris cooked for us on the last night of our stay and the meal was incredible! I highly recommend have a meal there too! Elizabeth2024-12-30 We stayed with a large family group over Christmas and Drifter was perfect. Chris was super helpful and communicative. The place is perfect, super comfortable and cosy. Everyone loved the shower with the view! We enjoyed breakfast every morning and we dined in several nights which was super easy and delicious. We had use of the kitchen on the other nights which enabled us to cook for the crowd including for Christmas eve celebrations. Chris also organised a few kegs of Asahi for us and discount lift tickets - no complaints! The bus goes from out front - but not all that frequent so maybe easier if you have a car or just ski at Suginohara. Local Onsen about 15 min walk and nice after a day of skiing. Note that most of the rooms are upstairs and the stairs are a a bit steep - if you have more than 4 people that find stairs hard to navigate perhaps think about that. Would highly recommend and will return. Melinda2023-12-28
